PrimaryPlus in Vanceburg Offering FREE ABI SCREENINGS

(Vanceburg, KY)  Throughout the state of Kentucky and even within our northeastern Kentucky region, there are high rates of heart disease and diabetes.  Many things combine to create these chronic diseases such as heredity, unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, and smoking.  Even for those that may not have been diagnosed as a diabetic or having cardiovascular disease, may struggle with other underlying disorders that can lead to more severe health problems.  That is why is so important to know your health and to stay aware of your body through regular check-ups with your doctor and screenings.

PrimaryPlus is proud to be a part of working to keep our community healthy and is excited to offer FREE ABI Screenings on Tuesday, October 23 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  ABI stands for ankle/brachial index and is a non-invasive procedure that measures the blood pressure in the lower legs and compares it to the blood pressure in the arm.  The ABI Screening helps evaluate the amount of blood flow to the legs and feet helping to detect possible circulatory problems that can lead to conditions such as peripheral vascular disease (PVD).  PVD is a hardening or narrowing of the arteries/vessels that can often be linked to future problems such as heart disease or diabetes.  Participating in screenings such as this is a start to help strengthen your health!

The Free ABI Screenings are part of the expanding ultrasound and x-ray department at PrimaryPlus in Vanceburg, KY.  Space is limited for the screenings, so you must register prior to the event by calling 606-796-0183.
